WebFeb 13, 2024 · So I have a 400 big cam, starts in the cold like a 400, smokes like a locamotive if cold, wicked touchy mid throttle, truck jerks bad at times mid throttle, you have to drive full throttle or no throttle to drive smoothly, loaded it's a little better. WebDec 19, 2013 · Those engines want to rev high and don't want to be lugged down, especially when more fuel pressure is given to it. Limit the max unloaded rpm to somewhere around 2900-3000 and never lug it under 1700-1800 under full load when the fuel is turned up, light cruising is ok at lower rpm.
