Permissive cell infection
Cytopathic effect or cytopathogenic effect (abbreviated CPE) refers to structural changes in host cells that are caused by viral invasion. The infecting virus causes lysis of the host cell or when the cell dies without lysis due to an inability to replicate. Both of these effects occur due to CPEs. If a virus causes these morphological changes in the host cell, it is said to be cytopathogenic. Common examples of CPE include rounding of the infected cell, fusion with adjacent cells to form WebJan 20, 2010 · Therefore, while the early events of infection may be similar in permissive …

WebMoreover, when virions were used to infect either permissive or nonpermissive cells, identical early events of viral infection, i.e., adsorption, penetration, and nuclear transport, were observed, suggesting that these early events of infection are a property of the virion and not the host cell. WebJul 25, 2024 · This polyomavirus was administered to human populations mainly through contaminated polio vaccines, which were produced in naturally infected SV40 monkey cells. Previous molecular biology and recent immunological assays have indicated that SV40 is spreading in human populations, independently from earlier SV40-contaminated vaccines. After … WebJul 9, 2007 · Since many human cells are semi-permissive to SV40 infection, the viral genome replicates poorly in these cells. Consequently, the few replicated DNA molecules remain in the episomal state, or are even lost, in a fraction of the cells . Another mechanism of transformation, the paracrine mechanism, exerted by the SV40 Tag has been revealed …
